Racing Threads at International Motorsports Hall of Fame and
http://talladegasuperspeedway.com/media/ CUTLINE INFORMATION: The driving suit of a modern day racer is woven of the latest fire retardant materials and adorned with brightly colored logos and patches. The driving suit of 1961 Formula One World Champion Phil Hill however, closer resembles a pair of pajamas than the padded and protected suits of today. Oh how the times have changed! Visitors to the International Motorsports Hall of Fame and Museum (IMHOF) will find more than fast cars and championship trophies on display. Showcases throughout the IMHOF display the evolution of driver equipment and safety gear. Some notable driving suits on display are those worn by: Top Fuel Champ Shirley Muldowney, Formula One Champs Jack Brabham and Phil Hill, NASCAR Champs Tim Flock and Alan Kulwicki and IndyCar stars Al Unser Sr. and Johnny Rutherford. Admission to the museum is $10 for adults, $5 for kids age 7 to 17 and free for kids age 6 and younger. Combo packages that include both tours of the museum and Talladega Superspeedway are $12 for adults, $8 for kids age 7 to 17 and free for kids age 6 and younger. It is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., 7 days a week with the exception of major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day and Easter).
