FORD PERFORMANCE ICON DAN GURNEY PASSES AWAY AT AGE 86

In 1968, Dan Gurney would drive the famed Wood Brothers Ford to his fifth and final NASCAR victory on the road course at Riverside, CA. Gurney, a member of the inaugural class of the International Motors Hall of Fame member, passed away recently at the age of 86.

    FIELD NARROWED TO 23 FOR 2001 INDUCTION CEREMONY

    Twenty-three individuals who have distinguished themselves in the world of motorsports have been selected as finalists for election into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame. In the final round of voting later this summer, five individuals will be selected from this group to be inducted on April 19th, 2001.

    BREEDLOVE, PRUDHOMME SPECIALIZE IN BREAKING SPEED BARRIERS

    Craig Breedlove and Don Prudhomme have each passed significant milestones in raising the speed records of two different forms of motorsports. They have achieved the highest speeds of any of the six 2000 inductees into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame. They, along with Mario Andretti, A. J. Foyt, Nelson Piquet and Ayrton Senna, will be inducted on Thursday evening, April 13th, at the Hall of Fame's Speedvision Dome.

    IMHOF 2000 INDUCTEE BREEDLOVE STILL MOVING FAST AT 62

    When the rules were changed last fall to waive the normal five-year waiting period for potential inductees who were age 62 or older and still racing, no one had any idea who would be the first individual to be voted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame under the new policy.
