Talladega, Al – The International Motorsports Hall of Fame’s 2015-16 Miss Motorsports - Baylee Smith – was recently crowned the 2017 Miss Alabama USA during the annual Miss Alabama USA competition in Montgomery. Smith, who represented Pike County, will represent Alabama in the Miss USA competition next summer, which will be aired on the Fox network and is tentatively scheduled to be held in Las Vegas.

After Smith’s year representing the International Motorsports Hall of Fame (IMHOF), and the Talladega Pilot Club, her new title of Miss Alabama USA is already preparing the passionate Troy University sophomore for another whirlwind year in 2017. Pursuing a degree in elementary education and a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, Smith hopes to continue her passion for children by using her title to promote anti-bullying throughout the state during her year of travels and to be a positive role model to each person she comes in contact.

“To have the opportunity to travel around the state talking with young people about bulling is very important to me,” she said. “This is something important that I can do — something that I can do to, hopefully, make a difference. It’s important to me that I give back to my community – to my state.”

The Pilot Club of Talladega will play host to the 29th annual “Miss Motorsports Hall of Fame Pageant” in the summer of 2017, at the Fox Sports 1 Dome at the IMHOF, located adjacent to Talladega Superspeedway. The event is noted as their biggest fundraiser and hopes to continue sponsorship for years to come so the pageant can have the opportunity to award an outstanding young woman of our community a well-deserved scholarship.
