The Winged Warriors — Record Setting Dodges On Display at
http://talladegasuperspeedway.com/media/ CUTLINE INFORMATION: Did you know the two “winged warriors” at the International Motorsports Hall of Fame and Museum are both record setters? Buddy Baker’s blue No. 88 Dodge Charger Daytona was the first vehicle to set a 200 mph lap around a closed course. He accomplished the feat at Talladega Superspeedway in 1970 with a speed of 200.447 mph. Bobby Isaac and his orange No. 71 Dodge Charger Daytona moved the bar even higher later that year, circling Talladega at 201.104 mph. Not done with speed records, Isaac took the car to the Bonneville Salt Flats in 1971, where he set 28 national and world speed records! Both cars are on display in the Union 76 Building. Admission to the International Motorsports Hall of Fame and Museum is $10 for adults, $5 for kids age 7 to 17 and free for kids age 6 and younger. Combo packages that include both tours of the museum and Talladega Superspeedway are $12 for adults, $8 for kids age 7 to 17 and free for kids age 6 and younger. The museum is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., 7 days a week with the exception of major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day and Easter).
